WEEKDAY PRIVATE COURSE

2.5 hours
Available weekdays only, perfect for mother's groups
The starting solids journey doesn’t need to be one of fear and apprehension. In fact it can actually be fun and enjoyable for the whole family. At Cradle & Kin we have taught thousands of parents how to start solids with confidence, and we can teach you too.
In just 2.5 hours, we’ll have you channelling your inner paramedic, as you calmly and confidently navigate meal times, introducing finger foods and different allergens without a care in the world.
As mums ourselves, we appreciate starting solids can be daunting, but we promise you, once you finish this course, it won’t feel so scary anymore!
We cover everything you need to know to start solids confidently:
- The Primary Survey (DRSABCD)
- CPR for babies and children
- Recognising and responding to allergies & anaphylaxis
- Choking first aid
Plus a few extras that we believe every parent/carer should know…
- How to recognise a critically unwell baby or child (red flag symptoms)
- Recognising respiratory distress
- Managing major bleeds
- Seizure first aid
You sure do!
Not only will you receive training from a Registered Paramedic and take home the skills needed to save a life, each course attendee will also receive:
- 12 months access to our online Starting Solids First Aid course
- A Cradle & Kin keyring with QR code access to download our first aid manual e-book (so no need to take notes).
- Fridge magnet set with Medication Tracker & DRSABCD Flow Chart
First Aid For The First Years was created by co-founders Zoe and Maggie.
Zoe has been a Registered Paramedic for 12 years, holds a certificate IV in training and assessment and has taught paramedical students at a university level.
Maggie holds dual registration as a Registered Paramedic and Registered Nurse and has 10 years of experience in the field. Maggie also has multiple Australian titles in first aid competition.
After becoming new mums in 2022 we made it our mission to educate and empower as many caregivers as possible in all aspects of baby and child first aid. We wanted to share our knowledge and skills to help others feel confident in caring.
Starting Solids First Aid has been based on over 20 years of combined experience as Registered Paramedics and aligns with evidence based practice and current Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
- A TV with HDMi output
- Wifi
- Space for all of your guests
- Some hosts choose to have coffee, tea and snacks for break time
No worries!
If you cant find 10 people to attend your private course you are welcome to book for a smaller group however you will need to split the minimum fee between you.
Alternatively you could consider attending a public course or purchasing our online course Starting Solids First Aid.
We will have a 15 minute break in the middle of the course which should be enough time to stretch your legs, have a coffee or a tea and a bite to eat.
We sure do!
We bring a laptop to plug into your TV, CPR / skills manikins to practice on, all necessary learning props and a fun and positive vibe.
We can accommodate up to 16 guests, can you tell we love a party?
As mums ourselves we LOVE children so you are more than welcome to have your little ones with you at your private course.
If you want to be fully engaged with the content, you may like to consider having another person available at home to help lend a hand throughout the course. We sometimes find parents can struggle to wrangle kids, while also having free hands to learn practical skills.
We do find that courses can run slightly over time when children are in attendance so please allow an extra half an hour just in case.
Also for the record we are very much breast feeding friendly, feel free to feed anywhere anytime!
We understand that life happens, so we will try our very best to reschedule your course to a date that suits both parties. We do however ask that you give us as much notice as possible.
If you need to reschedule your course with less than 48 hours notice we charge a last minute reschedule fee of $200 which will be taken from your booking payment.
Unfortunately we do not accept cancellations due to a change of mind.
