Why It Matters

No parent wants to imagine their child in an emergency, but every parent deserves to feel confident knowing how to respond if one happens.

Throughout our careers as paramedics, we've seen little lives saved by parents who recognised their child needed help
and knew exactly what to do before emergency services arrived. We've also seen the panic and uncertainty that can set in when families aren't sure how to respond.

That's why we created this course, to replace panic with confidence and empower families with the knowledge, practical
skills, and peace of mind to act when it matters most.

Taught By Medical Pros

Our educators are registered paramedics, mums, and experienced trainers who continue to work on the frontline for their local ambulance service.

Drawing on current clinical experience, years of healthcare education, and the realities of raising children themselves, they deliver practical, engaging, and evidence based training designed to help parents and caregivers feel calm, confident, and capable when it matters most.

Good To Know

First Aid For The First Years is also available in a public session or online course. Find out more on our course page.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have less than the minimum of 10 attendees, can I still host a course?

No worries! If you can't find 10 people to attend your private course, you are welcome to book for a smaller group; however, you will need to pay the minimum fee between you. Alternatively, you could consider attending a public course or purchasing our online course.

Can we have our babies or children at the course?

As mums ourselves we LOVE children so you are more than welcome to have your little ones with you at your private course. If you want to be fully engaged with the content, you may like to consider having another person available at home to help lend a hand throughout the course. We sometimes find parents can struggle to wrangle kids, while also having free hands to learn practical skills. We do find that courses can run slightly over time when children are in attendance so please allow an extra half an hour just in case. Also for the record we are very much breast feeding friendly, feel free to feed anywhere anytime!

What do I need to host a course?

Hosting a course is easy, all you'll need is a comfortable space with room for everyone to sit (a living room or community venue is perfect), a TV or screen with an HDMI connection, and access to a power point Wifi. We'll bring everything else, including all training equipment, CPR manikins, defibrillators and course resources. All you need to do is invite your family and friends, put the kettle on, and we'll take care of the rest.

How many people can attend the course?

We can accommodate up to 30 guests, can you tell we love a party?

Do I get any take home resources?

You sure do! We know you're unlikely to remember every single thing from the course, so we've created plenty of ways to refresh your knowledge long after the day is over. Every attendee receives a take home magnet pack featuring our Primary Survey Magnet and Medication Tracker, plus a handy keyring with access to our digital first aid manual. The manual covers everything taught during the course, broken down into easy to follow flowcharts and bite sized fact sheets for quick reference when you need it most. You'll also receive 12 months access to our online course, Starting Solids First Aid, allowing you to revisit all of the content covered on the day.

Will there be a break?

We will have a 15 minute break in the middle of the course which should be enough time to stretch your legs, have a coffee or a tea and a bite to eat.

Will I receive a certificate?

Our courses are not accredited, which means we can spend less time ticking boxes and more time teaching practical skills that parents and caregivers actually need. We focus on hands-on learning, real life scenarios, and building the confidence to respond in an emergency, not passing an assessment. We are however always happy to provide a Certificate of Attendance after the course. Many healthcare professionals use this as supporting documentation for their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
