First Aid For The First Years was created by co-founders Zoe and Maggie.
Zoe has been a Registered Paramedic for 12 years, holds a certificate IV in training and assessment and has taught paramedical students at a university level.
Maggie holds dual registration as a Registered Paramedic and Registered Nurse and has 10 years of experience in the field. Maggie also has multiple Australian titles in first aid competition.
After becoming new mums in 2022 we made it our mission to educate and empower as many caregivers as possible in all aspects of baby and child first aid. We wanted to share our knowledge and skills to help others feel confident in caring.
First Aid For The First Years has been based on over 20 years of combined experience as Registered Paramedics and aligns with evidence based practice and current Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
We host our public course regularly at one of two central venues.
Enclave– 236 Lord St Perth W.A 6000
Subi Space-Â 12/217 Hay St Subiaco WA 6008
We sure do!
We provide baby, child and adult manikins for you to practice CPR, choking first aid and other lifesaving skills.
We cap our public courses at 24 people max, but usually end up with a few less… life happens, right?
We find it is a great group size: big enough for lively discussions, but small enough that you still get plenty of personal feedback and support along the way.
Babies in arms are always welcome at our courses!
If however your child is over one year of age we would recommend keeping them home with a babysitter or potentially looking into booking a private course.
Also for the record we are very much breast feeding friendly, feel free to feed anywhere anytime!
We will have a 15 minute break in the middle of the course which should be enough time to stretch your legs, have a coffee or a tea and a bite to eat.
We provide tea and coffee however if you would like something to eat please feel free to bring snacks with you. There is a fridge / freezer / microwave available for you to use at Subi Space.
You sure do!
Not only will you take home the skills needed to save a life, you will also receive our first aid manual keyring, which is a quick reference guide covering everything you learn in the course and more (no need to take notes).
You will also receive our first aid flow chart and medication tracker fridge magnet set.
We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we’ll always do our best to reschedule your course to a date that works for both parties.
However, as a small business, last-minute changes have a significant impact on our business. When a booking is made, our venue is secured, catering is arranged, and your place is held—often without the ability to rebook it at short notice.Â
For public courses, rescheduling with less than 72 hours notice will incur a $50 reschedule fee per person which will need to be paid before you we confirm your new date.
- Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice are not eligible for rescheduling or a refund.     Â
- We do not offer refunds for cancellations or change of mind                  Â
