First Aid For The First Years was created by co-founders Zoe and Maggie.
Zoe has been a Registered Paramedic for 10 years, holds a certificate IV in training and assessment and has taught paramedical students at a university level.
Maggie holds a dual registration as a Registered Paramedic and Registered Nurse and has 8 years of experience in the field. Maggie also holds multiple Australian titles in first aid competition.
After becoming new mums in 2022 we made it our mission to educate and empower as many caregivers as possible in all aspects of baby and child first aid. We wanted to share our knowledge and skills to help others feel confident in caring.
First Aid For The First Years has been based on almost 20 years of combined experience as Registered Paramedics and aligns with evidence based practice and current Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

When we first launched the in person version of First Aid For The First Years we had soooo many people reach out to tell us that they wanted to come to a in person course, however they:
- Simply couldn’t find the time
- Couldn’t get enough people together for a private course
- Felt too pregnant to leave the couch
- Were struggling to leave the house let alone attend a first aid course with a newborn
- Were dealing with postnatal anxiety / depression and didn’t feel comfortable in a group
Now as working paramedics, business owners and mums ourselves, these comments resonated STRONGLY with us. We have been there ourselves (and not so long ago) so we get it.
That’s why we created the online version of First Aid For The First Years. So that everyone, regardless of their situation could learn the skills needed to save a little life and manage illness and injury like a boss.
First Aid For The First Years is not an accredited course however it covers much more than your basic first aid course.
If you need to complete an accredited course for work or study, watch this space and check back in with us in a few months, we are working on it!
- You will need a device such as a phone, tablet, laptop, computer, or a TV that connects to the internet
- A good wifi connection
- A teddy or doll to practice skills such as CPR and choking first aid
The course covers first aid for all children from newborns to 12 (at which age we consider children adults for first aid purposes).
We also cover adult CPR.
While it is entirely up to you, we would recommend completing the course before your little one is born, that way you will be feeling confident and prepared from the get-go.
Remember you have access for 12 months, so you can login and out at anytime to brush up on your skills.
Once you purchase the course you will have access for 12 months.
We have included Afterpay as a payment option so that you can break the cost down over 4 small payments.
