First aid, the way it should be. Practical and parent-friendly to help you feel calm, confident and capable when it counts.

Cradle + Kin Paramedic Mums

We've helped more than 1,000 families across Western Australia build life saving skills, confidence and peace of mind.

How it started

Two paramedic mums, one mission.

Cradle & Kin was born over a coffee catch up when Maggie was heavily pregnant and Zoe was deep in the newborn haze. We sat and chatted for hours about the joys and challenges that come with welcoming a baby into the world.

As healthcare professionals, we realised how lucky we were to feel confident recognising illness and injury, and knowing exactly what to do in an emergency. We also knew that for many new parents, those same situations could feel incredibly scary.

Somewhere between the coffees and baby chats, one of us joked, "Maybe we should teach first aid to new parents!" It seemed like a crazy idea at the time, but the more we talked, the more it made sense.

If we were going to do it, we wanted to do it differently.

We wanted to create the kind of first aid course we would have wanted to attend, a warm, welcoming space where pregnant couples, new parents and grandparents could build life saving skills over a hot drink, a few laughs and absolutely no fear mongering.

We wanted first aid to be fun, memorable and engaging, because we know that's how learning sticks.

Fast forward a few years, and we couldn't be more proud of the business we've created. Today, we're privileged to be part of something that truly matters. Helping families across Western Australia feel calm, confident and capable when it counts.

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Hi, I'm Zoe

A mum, foodie, lover of a good chat, and one half of Cradle & Kin Family First Aid.

I've been a Registered Paramedic for 13 years and still work on the frontline in the ambulance, caring for patients across Perth. I hold a Bachelor of Science (Paramedicine) and feel privileged to work in pre-hospital care, supporting people through some of life's tougher moments.

Alongside my clinical work, I've also built a career in education. I hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and have taught paramedic students at Edith Cowan University, as well as qualified paramedics through my work with St John College of Pre Hospital Care.

Through Cradle & Kin, I feel incredibly lucky to combine my frontline experience with my love of teaching, creating education that's fun, engaging and easy to understand.

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Hi, I'm Maggie

A mum, Mexican food enthusiast, romantasy lover, and the other half of Cradle & Kin.

I've been a dual Registered Nurse Paramedic for over 11 years and hold a double degree in Nursing and Paramedicine. I still work on the frontline in the ambulance and, because apparently one job wasn't enough, I also pick up the occasional nursing shift.

My passion for first aid began long before my healthcare career. Growing up through Surf Life Saving, I competed in first aid competitions around Australia and somehow ended up becoming a six-time Australian First Aid Champion, a pretty fun claim to fame.

First aid has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so getting to share that passion through Cradle & Kin feels pretty special. Nothing beats seeing parents leave our courses feeling confident and empowered to put their new skills into practice.

Thousands of happy kin and counting.

“Maggie and the team were amazing! We had a private session in our home, Maggie was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and accommodating to our needs and questions. We all feel so much more prepared to care for our bub when she arrives, and we found the resources provided extremely helpful. I couldn’t recommend this company more highly.”

“As a nurse, I’ve often found first aid courses repetitive or not particularly useful—but I couldn’t fault today’s session at all. I actually gained new knowledge from the information and resources provided, which really impressed me. I’ll be recommending this course to my friends and fellow healthcare workers.”

- Alysha

"We had such a great experience. Maggie came to my house to run a first aid course for our mother’s group and it was absolutely wonderful. She was so lovely, super knowledgeable and also amazing with the babies. One of the best parts is that you can bring your baby along, which makes the whole thing so much more relaxed and doable. Highly recommend to any new parents!"

- Jeike

"My husband and I did a baby & children's first aid course over the weekend and were so pleasantly surprised by how engaging, knowledgeable and educational it was. It was far from your typical first aid course and kept us interested the entire time! Highly recommend it if you're expecting a little one, or know someone who is."

- Sheldon

"Zoe came to do a course with us and it was far from your average boring classroom first aid course. We laughed and learnt and were able to have our babies with us. Everything was delivered clearly and in a style applicable to real life not textbook style. Zoe was professional yet relatable, extremely experienced and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to learn first aid minus the boring classroom!"

- Rikki

"I could not recommend Cradle and Kin highly enough! I’ve done first aid before but I’ve never felt engaged or laughed my way through the day like I did with Zoe and Maggie. I feel so much more confident since doing their course and my anxiety has gone because I know what to do if my girl is choking. Thank you so much Cradle and Kin."

- Sophie

"Such a good class and everyone learnt something new! Done in the comfort of our own home, no role playing or anything embarrassing like other first aid courses. With a group who are a mixed bag from nurses, St John senior first aid certificate holders, to others never done any form of first aid training, we all walked out learning something new. Makes us all feel a lot more comfortable welcoming new lives into this world in our care."

- Alisha

"I completed a first aid course today and I feel so much more confident in providing first aid! I've actually over the year completed a few first aid courses in person and online and I got so much more out of Cradle and Kin's Course. Zoe and Maggie are beautiful, kind, and professional! I highly recommend it! Thank you ladies. 😊"

- Ashleigh

"Informative, fun, interactive and our family walked away feeling confident with managing any first aid dilemma. The course was delivered by qualified paramedics, who are also mums themselves. We loved the scenario based components which allowed us to think on our feet using the skills we had learnt. Also big bonus we received awesome medication tracker fridge magnets, a mini handbook and DRSABC magnet. I highly recommend it!"

- Chelsea

"We hosted Zoe at our house yesterday for a paediatric first aid course in preparation for our nephew’s arrival. The course was extremely organised, interesting and very relaxed which made it easy to learn and ask questions. Having done a different course back in 2017 before our first son arrived we thought this would just be a refresher but found we learnt a lot more practical information about what to do in a real emergency which can make the difference in saving somebody’s life."

- Emma

"Being a few weeks away from becoming a first time mum, I'm so glad I did this course. My husband and I feel much more confident in being able to identify and address health concerns our bub might face in the future. Maggie and Zoe have created a fantastic course and I can’t recommend it enough."

- Michelle

"Just hosted a private course on the weekend. Everyone who attended loved it and walked away more confident than they arrived. Zoe was kind, funny, super knowledgeable and to the point but always willing to elaborate or answer endless questions. Time was managed well and the content was great and well presented. I would definitely recommend it!"
